My love for Polaroids & taking my Polaroid cameras to weddings

A couple pose in front of the restaurant in London. This is a city wedding, so this is a portrait. Its only the lower half of the couple. Showing their legs. A wedding dress, veil and man in a dark suit and black shiny shoes

S & L on Polaroid at their city wedding

I bought my first Polaroid camera in Asda for £20, back in my home town of Fleetwood. I got this years ago and would play around with it. Taking photos of everything and anything. I then experimented more and more and eventually started taking it to weddings I was shooting. Now I’ve shot hundreds of Polaroids at Weddings.

So why do I still shoot polaroid? Its unexpected and beautiful, unpredictable and depicts the exact mood and vibe Im after

So what is Polaroid?

Polaroid cameras are a type of instant camera that allows you to capture and print photos on the spot. Here are some interesting facts about Polaroid cameras:

  • The first Polaroid camera was invented by Edwin H. Land in 1947, and it was called the Land Camera.

  • The Polaroid camera was a revolutionary invention, as it allowed people to see their photos immediately, without having to wait for them to be developed.

  • In the 1970s and 1980s, Polaroid cameras became very popular, and were used by many celebrities and artists, including Andy Warhol.

  • Polaroid stopped producing instant cameras in 2008, but the company was later revived and now produces new versions of its classic cameras.

  • Polaroid cameras have a unique look and feel, and are often used by photographers and artists who want to capture a vintage or retro aesthetic.

  • Polaroid cameras are also popular among travelers, as they allow you to capture and print memories on the spot, without having to wait until you get home.

Whether you're an artist, a traveler, or just someone who loves the look and feel of instant photos, a Polaroid camera can be a great addition to your collection.

Below are examples of my polaroids and what I have shot at weddings over the years.

Please note - Polaroids are included in most of my wedding packages I offer and I can also shoot some film for family sessions. Contact me here
